Leopard Leopard Everywhere!

I will not lie I was so excited to read that leopard would be all over fall styles this season!  As you know I’m a general cat enthusiast, which boarders maniac at times (seriously, anything Kitty themed gets my vote), but leopard print has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.  While it may not always be appropriate to don a fully leopard print trench coat, I saw go for it.  But now, for us cat lovers, especially jungle cat lovers, we are free to express ourselves as we see fit with this new season we are entering!

In fitting with the trends, Thom Brown has some excellent leopard print selections that might tickle your fancy.

First up on the list is this excellent platform wedge, the Notizio, from Bacio 61, a new brand that has been added to the store this season.  You might not be able to tell from the picture but there is a peep-toe involved that I totally love, personally I think it makes the shoe, and the ankle strap at the top is a solid addition to make this shoe stand out.  Perhaps the height is a little off putting for some of you, but these are surprisingly very easy to walk in, so please set your mind at ease as far as moving and grooving in these shoes, but of the two heels that are featured in this post, these are hands down the easiest to maneuver in.  The suede leopard print

Despite my love for the Bacio 61’s, my true affection in this post is all for the Betsey Johnson Diskoo.  I’m not sure if it is the 5 inch heel, the pink sole, or the fact that the inside of the shoe is hot pink, but these are the raddest shoes I have seen in a long time.  But let me tell you, they take some serious effort to walk in.  In the words of Brandi “Walk slow homie.”

And last but not least, combining two fall trends, the Dirty Laundry Odell in Leopard, combines the animal print theme with the loafer / slipper look for a great simple shoe.  These have been flying off our shelves thus far, and you can probably see why.  Its a simple, comfortable style that anyone can pull off, so its no wonder why this shoe is so popular.  Currently these aren’t on our website yet, but keep checking if you are interested in them, they should be up soon.  Or if you are nearby one of our locations, come visit us!

Feline Fierce!

About a week ago Molly asked me to cat-sit her fat, I mean massive, orange cat, Cosito.  Literally, he is a real-life Garfield.  Both my roommates were gone for the weekend, so I was excited to have some company.  Let me very quickly contradict myself, as excited as I was, I did have some hesitation as I am not, by any means a “cat person” (Molly will be a crazy cat lady by the time she is 35, don’t let her convince you otherwise).  I will be the first to say that dogs rule and cats drool, but Cosito is actually a really fly cat.  He was super friendly and playful and was just looking for a buddy… I happen to be a wonderful buddy, so we made a good pair.  We indulged in cat nip, chased shoelaces, played with fake goldfish, pushed a basketball around, and watched Braveheart on DVD (oh my God, am I turning into a cat person?).  One thing that I loved about Cosito was his color.  The striking hue of his coat rode a beautiful wave between pastel and neon orange.  The radiant shade would be the perfect tone for a color blocking outfit.  Color blocking is by no means a new trend; however, seems to be rather popular this season.  Now some of you may be asking, what is color blocking?  Well, it’s pretty straight forward; it is blocks of colors in your outfit.  This can be as subtle as a pastel pink shirt with a sky blue skirt and chick yellow pumps (very Trust Fund Baby… think Tommy Hilfiger or Ralph Lauren).  Or it can be as bold as a hot pink mini dress, a lime green belt, and bright white wedges (think Studio 54… shag-a-delic baby, yeah!).  Shoes, in my opinion are the easiest way to add a pop to any outfit, using it in a color blocking outfit is even more fun.  So if you would like to try this style out, let’s pretend you have a Cosito orange dress, what shoes would you wear with it?  Here are a few options:

Chelsea Crew Sharon in Fuschia: The pink compliments the orange as both are warm colors.  In this particular shoe, the dark cork bottom mutes the bright colors just a bit so if it’s your first time trying to mix colors you won’t be screaming LOOK AT ME.  This is an excellent summer combination, very tropical… hold a nice yellow margarita in your hand and you’ll look like a piece of art!

From compliment to complete contrast, next is the Wanted Punk in Purple: The satin ballet flat with a decorative petal flower on the top is great outfit addition.  Direct opposites on the color wheel the purple and orange produce a beautiful contrast in color.  The shine of the shoe matches the vibrancy of the orange.  While the colors are boldly different, the fact the shoe is a flat will make it slightly more subtle.  Again, so if this is your first time trying this style it will be a nice and easy transition.  Any sort of white accessories (bracelet, watch, purse) would look fabulously chic.

And a bit in between, we have the Enigma HH156 in Aqua.  This strappy heel is perfect for a going out outfit.  Both colors are equally bright so this would definitely be a statement outfit.

I hope you try this style out, as there is no better time to rock color color color than in the summer!  Thanks Cosito for this fashion inspiration!
